DIY Vintage Subway Sign {Marriage Announcement}

Whew, I have been extremely busy. My plan is to debut my new projects each Monday. So here we go ...

Today was exhausting, but I did manage to get a few of my projects completed. My absolute favorite project that was completed today was my vintage subway sign {marriage announcement.} This sign is going to hang in Ryan and I's bedroom that we are refinishing.

I.love.it. Ryan.loves.it. I am not going to lie, it pretty much took forever, but turned out fabulous, and just how I wanted it.

- Wood
- Contact Paper
- Printer
- Scissors
- Primer Spray Paint

- Black Spray Paint
- Spray Adhesive
- Painters Tape
- White Paint Pen

Here's how it works ...

I wrote and spaced out my words using Microsoft Word. I then printed it out on our home computer and headed to Kinko's to blow it up. I opted to print my paper to 36' long and 18' wide. After everything was printed, I headed over to Lowe's to get my wood cut. I did the exact same measurements.

After you gather all of your supplies, take your blown up paper and your contact paper. Cut the contact paper to the same length as the paper and coat well with spray adhesive. Adhere your paper to the contract paper and let dry.

Then take your piece of wood and prime it. I used a white spray paint primer. Wait for it to dry. After it dries, spray your wood white, and let dry.

While the wood is drying, cut out all of the letters (TEDIOUS AND OBNOXIOUS!) Bring in your dried piece of wood. Take your painters tape and create a boarder around your wood. Space out your letters to your liking, peel of the back of the contact paper, and stick them on your board.

After all the letters are stuck on, take the wood back outside and get your black spray paint. Spray the entire thing and wait for it to dry.

I waited for about 2 hours until I peeled off all of the contact paper. All the words will be white, but you'll need to take the white paint pen and touch up a bit.
