Even though I am a "stay-at-home" mom, I still enjoy snow days. There is still that excitement when you wake up and a thick blanket of snow has covered the outside, you are still warm under your covers. Today was that morning. The three of us curled up in my bed and watched cartoons under the heated blanket, the blinds open so we could observe the snow fall. Lovely!
We hurried to the kitchen and I made my "easy-peasy cinnamon rolls" and we cleaned up the house. Only to get out all of our snow gear and get bundled up to go play in the snow. Today was Baylers FIRST ever play in the snow. You could see the wheels turning when I told him we were going outside. I kept pointing out there after every layer I put on him, and he kept looking at me like I was crazy. I don't' think it really hit him until I opened up the front door and carried him out unto the middle of the yard. So much fun. Of course Braeden was wanting to throw snow balls at Bayler and I (gee thanks Uncle Justin for teaching him this.) I was sure to bring a bowl with me outdoors to gather up enough for "snow cream."
The wind was brutle this morning, so we were only able to stay out for a short amount of time. The kids didn't seem to mind though, I think they were both ready to come inside and get warm.
I have use a number of snow ice cream recipes in the past, but the recipe I used this morning is hands down the best. It was SOOOO yummy, and the kids couldn't' get enough!
Here is the recipe if you are interested...
Snow Ice Cream:
- Gather a large bowl of snow
- Pour in 1 cup of sugar
- a teaspoon of vanilla
- and heavy whipping cream to taste/consistency
mix together and enjoy.
We loved our so much that we decided to put the rest in the freezer and save it for later :)
Such sweet photos! Looks like a lot of fun! My boys played today in the snow with their Daddy but I had to come to work:(

ReplyDeleteWe either use a recipe similar to yours, or just add maple syrup. Those are the days your kids will remember when they're all grown up!
