It's that Time of Year Again ...

 The whole family is looking forward to the fair again this year.

Now that the boys are a little older, they remember which rides were their favorite, where we stopped to eat and what animals were at the petting zoo.  It's a whole other experience.

Me?  I'm just a long for the ride ...

A Fourth of July Tradition ....

 If you know anything about me at all, you probably know how I just LOVE traditions.  Not only the traditions that I grew up around, but I love to come up with my own as well.  I think it creates a sense of security and love throughout the family.  When you're home, you know what to expect.  It becomes a staple.

This is a tradition that I grew up with on occasion.  Meaning that when I think about this particular holiday, I think about this particular item.  I believe that we did this most Fourth of July's, but I am sure there are a few in there that we skipped over.  Whatever the consistency was, I am determined to continue the tradition of Homemade Ice Cream and Root Beer Floats on the Fourth of July.

The Pampered Mom's: Homemade Ice Cream & Root Beer Floats

I usually make vanilla, what's your favorite type of Homemade Ice Cream?

The Pampered Mom's Homemade Vanilla Ice Cream

One of my families FAVORITE recipes.  One that everyone can help with and enjoy when done! 

We like vanilla, but you could add almost anything else to make it your own.  Sometimes I add fresh strawberries!

 Ingredients:

2 cups milk

1 1/4th cup sugar

1/2 teaspoon salt

2 cups half/half

1 tsp. vanilla abstract

4 cups whipping cream

crushed ice

rock salt

ice cream maker

Directions:

Heat milk until it bubbles and then remove from heat.  Add sugar and salt and stir until dissolved.  Stir in rest of the ingredients and refrigerate for 30 minutes.  

Use your ice cream maker per directions and use crushed ice and rock salt to help solidify.
